PBL TERM 3

So it is now the beginning of a new term and we have been told the new driving question which was: What will the future ask of us?. We have talked about HEAPS!! of stuff. We talked about global warming, drug addictions, poverty, depression, robots taking jobs and stuff like that.
We watched videos about which jobs will be taken over by robots. Also we talked about what humans will need to do when the robots do jobs. There where things like: an artist, a robot can't be a artist because they don't have imaginations and teachers, I think they should be taken over but everyone else says that they need to form an emotional bond with us.

We also thought about the differences between robots and humans.
Some of the things we thought about where: we have emotions and robots don't, (we can feel bad for other people and try to help others when they are sad.
anyway that is all I could remember so i guess this is the end of the blog.
BYE.

Invitations

So at the end of every term we have a big presentation about what we learned about. We had to make a invitation for it and I know i'm kinda late to it because it was last term but here it is:

What do you think? would you come down?

teachers strike

So like there was a teacher strike and I don't really care but I got a day off so it was good I guess.
They said that they where doing it because only like 50 percent of their job was teaching us and they wanted more time to teach us, I guess?
In my opinion they should have a strike every Thursday and every Friday because then we get more time off scho... Whoops, I mean, we would get more time with the teachers.
So anyway the strike didn't mean a lot to me because it hasn't effected me in any huge ways, so that was my opinion on the strike and I hope you enjoyed reading my blog

Diana Isaac

A few weeks ago a few kids and I went to the Diana Isaac retirement home, we bought board games and played with the people and talked about what they have done and where they have been. I played connect 4 with a man in his late 80's It was really fun and I had a great time.

Have you been to a retirement home?

Math

In week 5 we had a math problem called stairs to squares here is my video:

Are you good at math?

Art

In week 9 we had to do some art where we traced our heads and then made them in the drawing, here is mine:

Do you like it?

Reading follow up

For one of our reading tasks we had to read a book and in it there were pictures and we had to predict what would happen by reading it and looking at it. We had to make a google drawing with our predictions and say if they were wrong or right, here's mine:

Do you like the colours?

Tech

For this year we have tech (and next year) and last term I had woodwork which was pretty fun because we got to make boxes and stuff but this term I had foods so we have made a lot of things over the past term including: chicken wraps, salad wraps, breakfast in a jar (my fav), piklets and more that I can't remember. So I think I liked foods more than woodwork because I got to eat, next term I have plastics and I'm looking forward to that.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a good day.
Also what's your fav food?

Winter sports

This term (term 2) and next term we have winter sports and there are 4 sport options: Hockey, Football, Netball and Rugby. I chose netball because I wanted to (sue me, oh wait you can't we're in New Zealand 😎😝) And I have played about 5 games and I kinda like it so I might stick with it, I think we won most of our games but I'm not sure so anyway thanks for reading, bye.

Breakout EDU

So I don't know what EDU stands for (Ik I'm stoopid) But in the breakout EDU We got into teacher selected groups and went to the library and tried to unlock a box by finding clues. The theme of the EDU the movie Wonder. I can't even remember what was in the box but i think we just got fake money so I didn't really care about the money but it was fun I guess but anyway thanks for reading my blog and I'll talk next time ;)

Bingo card task

for our week 5 task we got a digital bingo card with things to finish and it looks like this

for this blog we had to show one of the tasks we completed and I would like to show you this one, It is about Carmen Sandiego:
First you had to investigate London because the crown jewals had been stolen and then you tracked Carmen to tokyo and then to Rio Di Janeiro then to Dubai where you found Carmen but it turns out that another thief called Tigress stole the jewels and Carmen was trying to get them back, then you travel to Sydney where you found Tigress and arrested her.

You can play it by clicking on this link: Carmen Sandiego

Speech

Hi and welcome back, sorry for the late post but today I will share the beginning of my speech that I worked very hard on 😎.
It is based around racism. I tried to get as much information as possible but I was sick for a week when everyone else was working on their speeches so... anyway here it is.

Discrimination, does it sound familiar? maybe when you hear it you think of racism and sexism but there are so many other types that people completely underestimate the size of. Other types of discrimination include: ableism, religious discrimination and ageism. Racism and sexsm i’m sure you’re all familiear with so I’ll just tell you quickly. Racism is judging someone on something they can’t change, that thing being their skin color or race. Sexism is similar, it’s doing the same thing but judging them on their gender instead of race. Ableism is not as well known as racism or sexism but still a problem, it’s judging someone or just taking that second look at someone and thinking differently of them for a disability, about 70 percent of disabled people say that they have had people discriminate against them for their disability. The truth is that they don’t want you to treat them differently.
Religious discrimination is when you think differently of someone because of religion like saying that you won’t talk to a muslim or buddha or hindu this happens all around and needs to be stopped.
Ageism. Ageism is saying that someone can’t do this or do that because they are to old or to young. This can happen in sport if someone says that someone is too old to play rugby or tennis or go mountain biking.
Anyway I’ll be focusing on racism.

So uhhhh... wadduya think?
