Sport rotations

For the past few weeks we have had sports people come in and teach us sports every Thursday,
Some of the sports were: Cricket, Softball, Lawn bowls and Korfball.
My favourite sport was Korfball but I also liked doing Cricket, I liked Korfball because it was like a mix of basketball and netball.
We did Korfball twice and cricket twice but the other ones we only did once.
Korfball is a game where you can't dribble or run with the ball, you cant touch the opponents but you can stand as close as you want, you aim to throw the ball in the hoop and you get a point. you have a defender side of the court and an attacker side of the court, every two goals you swap sides and play defence or attack.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed reading this blog.
Have you ever played Korfball?

Top team

On Friday of week 6 we did a school activity called top team, it was a group that did sports activities.
There were 12 activities altogether. I will tell you about a few of my favourites.
There was one were you had to hold a slingshot. put a bean bag in it and shoot it towards your team mates out on the field, if they caught it then they put it in a bucket and got one point.
The next one was were you had to line up with a broken pipe and put a tennis ball on the pipe and try to land the ball in a bucket, if you got it in the bucket your team got a point.
Next you had a big pile of wooden blocks and you competed against another team trying to build the tallest tower before the time runs out.
Anyway that's the end of my blog and I hope you enjoyed

attitude

A few weeks ago a group called attitude came in and talked about puberty and the changes that will happen to your body. A lot of the stuff I can't talk about on this blog but we got to do a quiz where they would ask a question and tell us what corner to go to if we thought that was the answer.
They also told us to look at our crushes but I don't have a crush so I just looked at charley for comedic purposes.
Overall I didn't learn a lot but it was still kinda fun.
Thanks for reading and tell me in the comments if you have had attitude come to your school?

my favourite animals

Hi
this blog is a free choice so I decided that I would do it about animals.
These aren't in any particular order but anyway here they are

Japanese Spitz

The Japanese Spitz is a small to medium breed of dog of the Spitz type. The Japanese Spitz is a companion dog and pet.
Golden Doodle

I have one of these dogs and it is around my belly button height (I'm a 12 yr old boy)
The Goldendoodle is a cross-breed dog, obtained by breeding a Golden Retriever with a Poodle and he is in the picture above

Moggie cat

I also have a moggie cat and I've had him for 9 years. His name is Sparkles and he is in the picture above.
They are the most common type of domesticated cats and come in all shapes, sizes, and colours. Moggies come in both long and short hair.

anyway I hope you enjoyed the blog.
Tell me in the comments what your favourite animals are.

tough children

On Wednesday last week the Tumu and Kaupeka hubs had the tough kids run. there were more than 2000 kids there and it was very fun.
We were allowed to wear mufti and I took advantage of that, I wore a crop top, a green tutu and a blue wig.
I think I looked pretty stupid but that was the look I was going for so I am proud of myself.
The run was 2 km and it went through obstacle course, mud, running through the ocean, and little kids pools.
I popped a bunch of manus in the mud and water.
At the end a fireman squirted you with a hose.
Overall it was pretty fun and I got to talk with my friends.
Did you do the mud run?

Poem

For writing this week we had to write a poem, I chose to write a haiku.
A haiku is a three lined poem, the first and third lines were 5 syllables and the second line is 7, Miss Lover made me write another three lines.
I wrote my one about going zip lining with my friend Neru.
here is my poem:

Went zip-line-ing with Nez

He was scared but not for long

real fun, now it's done

Then we went to maccas yo

got big mac and chips

They were good burgers tho aha

Did you like it? tell me in the comments.

camp reflection

At camp we had to write a reflection on what we did, we had to write a section on a challenge that we faced, our favourite part, what we learned and what we are thankful for, here is my reflection:

Challenge: It was challenging doing the hike because I am not very fit but I did enjoy it because I got to talk to my friends.

Favourite: My favourite was cabin time because I got to relax and talk with my friends.

Learn: I learned how to make different types of knots in raft building.

Thankful: I am thankful for the food, it was pretty good. I thank Mrs Parish for making it.

have you gone to camp? what was your favourite part?

Recipe

At school we had to make a recipe for a random countries food. The country I got Was Lebanon and for my food I chose kibbeh. They are fried meat with a pine nut, onion and ground meat of you choice centre. We had to write a recipe for the food, here is mine:

  • 900 grams of finely ground beef
  • 250 grams pound bulgur cracked wheat
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 medium onions (1 finely chopped, and 1 coarsely chopped, divided)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup toasted pine nuts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
Steps:
1 In a bowl, leave the wheat to soak in cold water for 30 minutes.
2 Remove the wheat and drain, to rid any excess water by squeezing through a cheese cloth.
3 Place the wheat in a bowl with 450 grams of ground beef, coarsely chopped onions 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper.
4 mix it well then put it in a food processor and blend until it has a doughy consistency then place the mix aside with a cover on top
5 in a frying pan, sauté the finely chopped onion in olive oil and add pine nuts if you want them.
6 Add the ground beef or lamb and make sure it is cut well with a wooden spatula then add allspice, salt, pepper, and cumin.
7 Once it is a light brown, take it off the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes.
8 Take an egg-sized amount of shell mixture and form into a ball then, with your finger poke a hole it the middle, add the filling to the middle then pinch the top to close it. This recipe will make around 25 kibbeh
9 Fry it in 350 F oil on a stove top or in a deep fryer for about 10 minutes or until it is golden brown.

10 Drain on paper towels and then serve them.

You can try it out for yourself if you want.
