My story

Hello and welcome back to my blog and today because you have all asked (no one asked) I will show you some more of my story.

Crash landing
By Arie Kriek
Chapter One
Holiday

It all started with a trip to the ‘Bahamas’. We were on a holiday for a few weeks because my family had been saving up our money for a couple of years. I was asleep before the crash but the shaking and rattling woke me. I looked around and everyone was in a wild panic, my mum was to my left furiously grabbing at the oxygen mask, and my dad next to her with his mask already on fumbling with the straps of my baby sister ‘Alesha’s’ mask. “Get your musk on now Hunter!” then I noticed my mask dangling and shaking above my head. I quickly strapped it on and buckled my seatbelt up ‘tight’ as we shot down towards the Earth.

The impact almost killed me, but compared to the rest of the crash it was nothing. The plane, rolled and turned in a ,massive explosion of flames. The top of the plane was ripped off and I glimpsed the starry night sky above me. Luckily everyone had their seat-belts on or there would be people flying everywhere. When the plane finally stopped rolling we were all upside down so I was extra careful unbuckling my seat-belt so I didn’t land on my neck. Then I carefully walked around and checked the seats of everyone else. Every single person was dead except my sister and me.

I took off Alesha's mask and then unclipped her seatbelt she came falling down and landed safely in my arms. She was beginning to cry and I suspected it was because of the smoke that was quickly filling up the wreckage and beginning to choke me. I grabbed my bag that had fallen down from under the seat. I scanned the wreckage for an exit and found a piece of ripped off metal, at the other end of the plane, with a small hole under it. I ran towards the hole. I dodged the burning flames that were beginning to lick the top of the upside down plane. I pushed Alesha through the hole and crawled out after her. We had crashed on a desert island and there was sand as far as the eye could see, so I picked up Alesha, who had stopped crying, and started walking. I turned back fighting my tears back as the plane collapsed in a fiery heap.

I walked for hours and I could feel my body getting more and more dehydrated. It felt as if with each step someone was tieing bricks too my feet. Finally, when I felt like I was just going to crumple to dust, I saw an oasis in the distance. I found a sudden burst of energy and started sprinting full speed toward the trees in the distance. Finally I made it to the oasis and thought of what to do.

It was beginning to get dark now so I checked my watch that had conveniently not broken in the crash, it was 11:38 pm. I thought that’ first I should make a hut high’ up in the trees so that animals couldn’t get us (though I suspected with our luck, that wouldn’t work at all). I stumbled around looking for strong and straight branches. I found a few and thought that would be enough  to make a small hut in the trees. I searched for a while longer and found a large tree with strong looking branches ‘that didn’t look comfortable’ but they would have to do.

I put Alesha down and found some flax and tied the sticks into a ladder kind of shape. I then tied the ladder to some branches made sure they were stable. “That will do” I mumbled to Alesha ‘who was nestled’ softly in the sand quietly sleeping; I got some more wood and some rocks. I then made a ring from the rocks and put the wood inside the circle. I tried my best to make a fire but didn’t get very far, I made a few embers and stuck them on some old dry moss which I then put under some wood. I swung my backpack around ‘so it was on my chest and not my back’ and put Alesha in the front ‘where I could see her’ and started climbing the tree.

I reached the top and looked down from my perch in the tree, it wasn’t very high up, but it was enough to feel the warmth of the fire underneath me. I lay Alesha next to me and grabbed a jacket out of my bag to put over us and used the bag as a pillow. It was around 1:40 am and ended up looking at the distant wreckage of the plane until I drifted off to sleep.

Chapter two
Nightmares

That night (or rather morning) I had horrible nightmares. I dreamed about the crash and it seemed like my brain had just shut down because it replayed the crash every time it ended, it was like I was watching the scariest horror movie over, and over. It was horrible.

All of a sudden I heard crying and woke up, Alesha was lying there next to me shivering. I started shivering when I realised how cold it was. I got grabbed my jacket and put it on with Alesha in the front. I dropped my bag down and then started climbing down myself. I reached the bottom of the tree and realised why it was so colt: the fire had gone out, and it was still steaming. I bent down and touched the ashes, they felt wet. I was sure it hadn't rained last night because ,A: I wasn’t wet, and ,B: the sand wasn’t wet.

I found a nice high spot in the sand and scanned the desert around me, there were two little spots in the distance, one with a large cloud of black smoke billowing out of it, which I recognised as the plane, and the second with a small spiderweb of grey smoke which was coming from what looked like a small dark cabin. I decided that I would go and see what the small cabin was like and see if there was anybody in it.

Chapter three
Life

I reached the small cabin, there were tree stumps littered around the house. There was a handmade axe which I suspected ha been used to cut down all the trees and there was a little porch with a old rocking chair and a coffee table, all which were handcrafted. I stumbled up the steps to the front door, it was open a crack. I gave it a shove and it creaked open. There was a smoking fireplace and a bench with some meat that looked like pork.

Suddenly I felt hungry, I jogged over and started eating with my bare hands. The food was half gone when I stopped and that was when I heard foot steps. I crawled under a table but it was too late, a man came charging in holding the axe. He saw me.

“I’ll chop you and the baby up and ave you for dinner if you don’t tell me what you’re doin right now boy!” he threatened in a gruff voice.
I tried to get up but the man jogged over and stuck his foot on my neck, I couldn't breath!. The man muscular and was wearing a sleeveless gout skin coat with some fluffy trousers. He had a scraggly beard and a gleam in his eyes that told me that he really would kill me. I threw my hands up and surrendered.

Chapter four
Friends and foes

The man grabbed me by the collar and lifted me off my feet. I was so terrified I think I peed a little. Alesha started wailing and the man glanced at her and shouted at me “Shut her up or your nose comes off!”.I was quite fond 0f my nose so I did as he was told and tried to shush Alesha.

I gave her the tip of my finger to suck on. She quieted down and the man let me down so my feet were touching the ground but he still held firmly.
“Who are you?, how did you git here?!”.
“We-we were the only survivors from the plane crash” I answered shakily.
“What plane crash?”
“The one just over ‘there” I said pointing out of the open door, but it was then that I realized there was a massive sand dune blocking out the wreckage and the smoke billowing from it.

“It-it’s over that hill” I stammered pointing to the sand dune.
He dragged me over to the dune and told me to climb, I did as he asked and was up the dune in mere seconds and then started spitting the sand out of my mouth. The old man grunted as he reached the top on the dune.

I had a perfect chance to get away from this crazy man but I feared it was my only hope and I didn’t want to get on the guy's bad side’ so I just stared across the sand.
He looked out at the plane and started racing towards the still burning wreck.
We ran to the plane and on the way there I asked the man who he was.
He answered to me “my name is John”.
“cool” I said “my name is hunter”

We got to the plane and I covered Alesha’s mouth so she wouldn’t cry.
“How did you get here”? I asked between coughs.
“I’ll tell you if we get back to the cabin”.
What does he mean ,if, I thought to myself.
“We’ll need to get back before sundown or the ‘Bloodhounds’ will come back” John said answering my question.
“What are Bloodhounds”?! I asked slowly.
“I’ll explain later”.

We decided there was nothing we could salvage until the fires died down so we just started to head back to the cabin when I heard a low rumbling growl, It sounded far away so I turned back.
There was some sort of animal that had just leaped onto the top of the plane.
There was another growl and about half a dozen other smaller animals came jumping on top of the plane. John looked back and yelled “run”!.
The animals jumped out the plane and started bounding towards us.

We raced back the cabin,”we’re not going to make it”! I yelled.

Anyway thanks for reading. Bye

  1. Arie, what a great story. You have enough detail for me to feel like I am there with you at the crash and I need to survive too. I love this type of story. Did you write any more? Do they find help??
